Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area has recently begun airing on Netflix. The K-Drama is a continuation of Money Heist (La Casa De Papel), a Spanish drama where a character known as the “Professor” brings together a team to steal from the Royal Mint of Spain.

Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area takes place in the same universe as the original series with the same premise.

While there are many members of the K-Drama cast that have caught viewers’ attention, one that stands out is Jeon Jong Seo.

Jeon Jong Seo plays Tokyo, a North Korean citizen who introduces herself to viewers by calling herself a BTS ARMY.  Viewers of the series have quickly turned Tokyo into a fan favorite girl-crush.

Here are a few quick facts that new fans should know about Jeon Jong Seo:

1. She attended school in Canada but she graduated high school in Korea.

Jeon Jong Seo was born in Seoul on July 5, 1994, and attended some school in Canada. However, she completed high school at the famous Anyang Arts High School, known for its many famous alumni.

2. She dropped out of university.

She attended Sejong University as part of the Film Art School but eventually decided that it was not the right path for her. She stopped attending classes at the university and instead took private acting classes.

3. She landed her first movie just three days after signing with an agency.

After dropping out of university, she spent time looking for a talent agency. Just three days after joining her first talent agency, the actress went to her first open audition and (after months of additional auditions) landed a role!

She starred as Haemi in Lee Chang Dong’s Burning, alongside Steven Yeun and Yoo Ah In. The film was a hit at the 71st Cannes Film Festival and launched her career.

4. She’s starred alongside Kate Hudson, Craig Robinson, and Ed Skrein.

Jeon Jong Seo landed her first Hollywood film credit with Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, credited to her English name Rachel Jun.

She plays the titular character of Mona, a girl with unusual powers that escapes from a mental institution. The film is currently in plans for distribution following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2021.

She is currently signed to US-based United Talent Agency.

5. She’s in a relationship with her former director.

Jong Seo starred in The Call in 2020, a film directed by Lee Chung Hyun.  Chung Hyun, whose good looks led to him being confused with the cast of the movie, and Jong Seo confirmed their relationship in December of 2021.
