NewJeans just took the K-Pop world by storm with their surprise debut, dropping not one but two new songs with additional tracks on the way.
The five-member girl group is produced by Min Hee Jin, the CEO of ADOR Entertainment and the former creative director of SM Entertainment, where she was the driving force behind some of f(x), EXO, and Red Velvet‘s most iconic concepts.
NewJeans debuted on July 21, dropping the music video for their song “Attention.” In a series of promotional videos released by the members afterward, they announced they would be revealing their names the following day.
Now, we know the group consists of Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. Not a lot is known about the five members, but fans have already uncovered some of their impressive past.
Here are predebut photos of NewJeans that prove they were born to be K-Pop idols.
Hanni is reportedly Vietnamese Australian and was part of a dance team in Melbourne. She was born on October 6, 2004.
Even before her debut, her charming and bright personality shined in her childhood photos. She even had a microphone in hand in what appears to be a grocery store.
She was also a proud fan of One Direction, living every fan’s dream at their favorite group’s concert with her fan-made sign.
She also appeared in BTS’s “Permission to Dance” music video alongside her fellow NewJeans member Minji.
Minji was born in 2004 and was a former Source Music trainee. Minji’s school photos show her natural visuals and celebrity aura.
Danielle is reportedly Korean Australian and was born on April 11, 2005.
In 2011, she appeared on a Korean children’s program, already showcasing she was destined for stardom. She even got to meet Shinhwa‘s Shin Hye Sung.
Not a lot is currently known about NewJeans’ Haerin. We do know that the idol was born in 2006.
Here are a few of her pre-debut photos!
Hyein is the group’s maknae, and she was born on April 21, 2008. Hyein was formerly a member of the children’s group U.SSO Girl after being cast while modeling.
She was also previously featured on the YouTube channel Pocket TV, where she showcased her life as a K-Pop trainee. Her past videos revealed her to be a huge fan of BTS, Red Velvet, and TXT.
