BTS’s ARMY Asks For Recalculated “ON” Stats With #BillboardRecalculate

Fans are demanding transparency from Billboard, following Hot 100 chart release.

BTS have achieved an all-time high on Billboard‘s “Hot 100” chart with “ON”, but fans believe that a recalculation is in order.

On March 2, Billboard announced the Top 10 for their “Hot 100” (dated March 7). BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7 title track, “ON”, took the No.4 spot, making it BTS’s highest-ranking song to ever debut on the “Hot 100”. Previously, BTS’s 2019 single “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)” debuted at No.8.

BTS has debuted a total of 11 songs on the “Hot 100”, with three of them (“ON”, “Boy With Luv”, and “FAKE LOVE”) charting in the Top 10. With “ON”, BTS surpassed PSY as the Korean artist with the most songs in the “Hot 100” chart’s Top 10.

As always, ARMYs are incredibly proud of BTS’s achievements, but many are concerned about Billboard’s calculations, which include streaming data from Youtube and Spotify. BTS’s Top 10 ranking could have potentially been lowered if the necessary chart data from all US streaming platforms, such as Amazon Music, was not included.

Billboard’s original tweet, now deleted, states that the “ON” MV premiered on February 28, when it premiered on February 27. Although Billboard has since corrected their statement, fans are worried that streams from February 27 may not have been included when Billboard calculated the “Hot 100” chart’s ranking.

Even with the first day of “ON” MV streams taken into account, some fans feel that the numbers are still too low.

As a result, ARMY have trended the hashtag #BillboardRecalculate, asking for transparency and accuracy. They are determined to give BTS the recognition they have earned by ensuring their stats truly match their achievements.
