CEO Kim Chang Hwan Sentenced To Probation In The East Light Assault Case

He stated that he will definitely appeal his sentence.

Media Line Entertainment CEO Kim Chang Hwan has been sentenced to probation in The East Light assault case.

On July 5, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Kim Chang Hwan to 2 years of probation with 8 months of imprisonment if laws are broken within the period for violating the Child Welfare Act.

Producer Moon Young Il, who assaulted The East Light members, has been sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment and Media Line Entertainment a 20 million KRW ($17,000 USD) fine.

In October 2018, former The East Light members Lee Seokcheol and Lee Seunghyun exposed that the members were habitually assaulted by Producer Moon and that CEO Kim did not do anything about it. Media Line Entertainment denied all accusations.

During investigations, however, it was confirmed that Producer Moon had habitually assaulted the members physically by beating them and more. CEO Kim had also offered the victims electronic cigarettes, hitting them on the heads when they refused, and condoned Producer Moon’s abusive behavior.

Meanwhile, Kim Chang Hwan stated that he will definitely appeal his sentence and expressed his dissatisfaction when asked which part of his sentence he cannot acknowledge.

I will definitely appeal. I’m not in the mood to talk about it.
