Gong Yoo Couldn’t Hold Back His Tears During His Baeksang Award Speech

Gong Yoo apologized to his mother for not being able to visit her often in the recent past.

During his speech after winning Best Drama Actor at the 53rd Baeksang Awards, Gong Yoo couldn’t hold back his tears after mentioning his mother.

He started off his speech by making a joke about his character in Goblin, Kim Shin.

“Up until a few months ago, I was a lonely but great Goblin and now I’ve returned to being a very vulnerable person.”

Gong Yoo then went on to thank Goblin’s production team, scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook, who had been trying to get Gong Yoo to star in her dramas for years, and all of the loyal viewers who watched Goblin.

Following this, he had a heartfelt message to his mother.

“Since I was busy going between my house and the broadcast station, my mother says that she’s become a bit disappointed in me recently. She says that I feel like I’m someone else’s son and not hers.

This is because I haven’t treated her well recently. I feel so sorry to her. I hope you stay healthy for a very, very long time.”
