A new trend in the way artists begin their new album promotions is emerging and making its way above the horizon.
Many Korean idol groups have taken to debuting their new tracks and promoting themselves in the old-fashion way with street performances before beginning their on-air activities, allowing their audience to see a more raw side of themselves.
Many artists have already held street performances in the last month, albeit for different reasons.
Rookie male idol group JJCC is hitting the streets every Saturday until the end of March in celebration of their 1st debut anniversary, after revealing the reason behind this choice is that they would like to be “closer and be able to communicate with fans.”

Following the release of her first solo mini-album, Girl’s Day Minah will be returning to the streets of Myeongdong to showcase her solo track “I Am A Woman Too,” reviving her old memories of the times she used to perform alone on the streets before her debut.
Cube Entertainment‘s new girl group CLC has chosen to hold their showcase outdoor at a playground in Hongdae, continuing with their street performance concept from their trainee days, where each of the members performed occassionally for seven months near Hongik University. Meanwhile Eric Nam performed his new track “I’m Okay,” among other tracks on the streets of Hongdae and Daehakro, just recently.
These street performances are certainly a fresh approach to promotions, giving the public an alternate view of the artists. What do you think of this trend?
