ITZY’s Yuna Recounts How Intense Her Hunger Was When She Was A Trainee

Mornings were the hardest.

ITZY‘s Yuna and Chaeryeong shared memorable stories from their trainee days in a recent episode of 2TZY: Hello 2021.

When Chaeryeong recounted how she hated being late because she didn’t want to incur penalty points, Yuna revealed that tardiness made up a majority of her penalty points.

To further explain why, she described how a typical morning in her life was like back then. It turns out the root cause of her tardiness was hunger.

I’d be standing on the subway train, and I’d be so dizzy, not knowing what to do. Everything goes blurry, and I’d be like, ‘Oh gosh…‘ and squat down next to the seats. And I’d stay there for a while.

Without fully grasping her surroundings, she’d exit the train and go straight to a manjoo stall.

When the door opens, I’d just get off, not knowing where I am. I’d see a Deli Manjoo stall, and I’d go crazy! Then I’d buy some manjoo.

— Yuna

In South Korea, manjoo is a popular sweet pastry that is typically formed into the shape of corn or fish.

Manjoo is a popular snack in South Korea.

Her meal was completed after she took a sip of coffee, and only then could she concentrate again.

After that, I’d take a sip of Americano from the other stall, and I’d be able to see again.

— Yuna

Chaeryeong concluded that Yuna’s unclear vision must have been because of her empty stomach: “That’s because your stomach was empty.

Please always eat well, Yuna!
