Actress Lee Yoo Mi plays Lee Na Yeon, a wealthy Class 2-5 student who isn’t above guilt-tripping her classmates. Her barbed tongue and arrogant attitude don’t win her friends on-screen, and viewers love to hate her too.

Lee Yoo Mi, however, came to Na Yeon’s defense in an interview with Cosmopolitan Korea. She sees Na Yeon as a person who stays faithful to herself and speaks truthfully even when that truth is painful.

Na Yeon is someone who’s really faithful to the emotions she feels. If you dwell on it again, there are aspects you come to understand about why Na Yeon acted that way.

The actress also pointed out that Na Yeon is acting under pressure, in an extreme situation. People behave differently when they are desperately trying to survive.

She has no choice but to be in a rush because she has to survive. Her desire to live was just expressed in a different way.

Viewers might not sympathize with Na Yeon, but they have nothing but respect for Lee Yoo Mi as an actress. Her characters in All of Us Are Dead and Squid Game are so different that some viewers didn’t know they were played by the same person!

“If [Na Yeon is] really mean, that means I acted well, right?” Lee Yoo Mi said. “If I receive hate, I will think that I did as well as the amount of hate I receive. It’s fine if you send hate, and it’s fine if you pity her.”
