“Parasite” Makes History As The First Foreign Film To Win “Best Picture” At The 2020 Oscars

They did it!

Parasite has just won the penultimate award at the 92nd Academy Awards!

The film took home the trophy for “Best Picture”, the biggest award of the night.

It was a tough fight against 1917, Ford V Ferrari, The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Joker, Little Women, Marriage Story, and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

The cast and crew did not hold back as they celebrated the historical award.

Their first award was “Best Original Screenplay”.

The film won its second award of the night in the “Best International Feature Film” category. Originally called “Best Foreign Language Film”, this is the first year the award was presented in its new name.

Parasite went up against fellow foreign language films such as Poland’s Corpus Christi, North Macedonia’s Honeyland, France’s Les Misérables, and Spain’s Pain and Glory.

The third award they nabbed was “Best Directer”. Bong Joon Ho is the first South Korean to win this award. He went up against Quentin Tarantino, Todd Phillips, Martin Scorsese, and Sam Mendes.

In Bong Joon Ho’s speech, he shouted how he wished he could split the award into five and share it with his fellow nominees.

Parasite is the first international film to win an Academy Award for “Best Picture”.

Congratulations to Parasite for winning four awards!
