International And Korean Netizens Have Drastically Different Reactions Towards BIGBANG Contract Renewal

What do you think?

It was just announced that BIGBANG members G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P., and Daesung would be renewing their contracts with YG Entertainment for the third time. This means that the group – who have been with the company for 15 years already – will likely release new music, new videos, and new performances (such as the delayed Coachella comeback) in the coming years.

However, reactions were mixed. International fans, in general, responded positively to this news, eager to hear more from the legendary K-Pop group.

Korean netizens, however, responded differently. With all the scandals and rumors that BIGBANG has had in the last several years, it’s probably not a surprise that their presumed comeback is controversial – here’s what some people anonymously had to say:

“If these thugs return to TV, the prosecution needs to investigate corruption within broadcast PDs. They’ve always given Big Bang and YG a pass helping them clean their image. SBS and Infinite Challenge are especially good at helping these ba$tards clean their image..”

“Didn’t TOP say he was quitting the entertainment industry? What’d he renew for?;ㅎ”

“A unique group of ex-convicts..”

“There’s nowhere else to go. It’s more interesting that they’re still planning to stay active.”

“What a symbiotic relationship…trash!!!”

“Taeyang is no different from themㅋㅋㅋ”

“I thought TOP said he doesn’t want to be a celebrity anymoreㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ”

“Where else would they go? What agency would take them? ㅋㅋㅋsince they have nowhere else of course they’ll flock together.”

Despite these conflicting views, it seems BIGBANG is set to make a comeback one way or another, and only time will tell if they succeed or if the backlash is too harsh.
