NCT 127 Talks About The Meaning Behind Their Name, And The Benefits Of Being A Multicultural Group

The boys have definitely lived up to the meaning behind their name.

NCT 127 was at the Prudential Center in New Jersey for the very first stop of their North American Tour.

The boys sat down with Billboard for an interview where they introduced themselves, and answered some questions.

Billboard‘s K-Pop columnist, Tamar Herman, asked the group on the meaning behind their name.

NCT – Neo Culture Technology, and 127 is the longitude of Seoul. With that meaning, we have the meaning to start from Seoul and spread our K-Pop and spread our music all over the world, globally.

— Mark

NCT 127 then discussed the benefits of being a multicultural group. Jaehyun was quick to point out that having members conversant in many different languages allows them to interact better with their fans. At the same time, it allows them to have much closer interactions with their international fans.

When we go to Japan, we learn Japanese from Yuta, he’s from Japan. When we’re in Korea, there’s our Korean members, and when we come to America, we have people who use English.

— Jaehyun

The members also revealed that Jungwoo is the best at picking up languages!
