With winter break over in South Korea, the time for Korean students to return to their studies and go back to school.

Anyone would be nervous returning to the classroom filled with new faces, are there easier ways to make friends? In a recent post on Pann, netizens discussed ways of making new friends. Titled “Tip of Making New Friends In New Semester,” here is the direct translation of the post and comments below:

“Do you guys have such tips?? I know there are students going into new middle schools and high schools.

Anyways, it is the new start of the semester. Do you guys have any easy tips on making friends?

In a classroom full of new faces, I’m the type to just start talking to the partner who sits next to me at the table haha. I first get friendly with my partner first and then start making other friends to make a group!!

Do you guys have any other tips? Are you the type to start a conversation first or wait for someone to break the ice?

If you press ‘like’ you’ll make a lot of friends in 2016!”

[ +115 / 0] It is better when it is a classroom full of unfamiliar faces. Then it is better for me to start a conversation first but if there are people that know each other, it is hard to approach them.

[ +90 / -2] I don’t know why but I can start talking only when someone starts talking to me first hahahahahah I get nervous but when someone approaches and breaks the ice, I get warmed up but relaxed hahahaha Then I start going on and on with my talking skills

[ +83 / -5] I really get confident if there is at least one friend I already know hahahahaah Then I start talking to everyone haha and get friends with everyone hahah But in 6th grade, I didn’t know anyone so I just stayed quiet……… I think it is so important to have at least one friend in the classroom… And of course that one person thinks of you as a friend much as you think of him/her

[ +25 / 0] I only know that even if you are quite or nervous, you have to be outgoing because no one will play with you if you stay quiet. You have to approach everyone with confidence
