The Reason PENTAGON’s “Shine” Was So Successful, According To The Members

It was definitely all thanks to Shinwon’s hair.

In a recent interview with ESQUIRE Korea as part of their promotions for “Feelin’ Like,” PENTAGON sat down and reviewed their old music videos.

When looking at their debut song, “Gorilla,” Kino claimed that “there isn’t a better debut song.”

For their music video for “Daisy,” Shinwon said that he liked the music video because “each member had their own color.” And Kino added to that, saying that it worked because all eight members had their own unique scenes.

And when it came time to review the music video for their recent comeback, “Feelin’ Like,” the members talked about how much more mature they’ve become since their debut.

Once Jinho points out their maturity, Hongseok chimes in that they “even walk differently” from how they did in “Gorilla.” They “even look differently from the side.”

But all the members were shocked when they went to look at the music video for “Shine” and saw that it (at the time of filming) had 230 million views.

Jinho voices his hope that if they keep trying hard to promote as a group, the views will only keep growing.

And while the members are more focused on Shinwon’s hair and the snow in the music video, the staff asks them why they think that “Shine” began trending a decent bit of time after the song’s release.

Kino clarifies that while he doesn’t know why it suddenly happened, it took until the 5th week after release for “Shine” to start ranking high on music charts.

Hongseok adds that it was around 500th when the song was first released, but it suddenly shot up to 12th.

The members then speculate that it was all because of the creative choreography of the song.

Yeo One points out that there were many different covers from various dance academies.

And Kino adds that there were also many celebrities who had fun promoting the song.

And when reading a comment that says that a student’s PE (physical education) class really likes dancing to “Shine” in particular, Shinwon jokes that that PE class alone is the reason the views keep increasing.

And although they were pleased that “Shine” is still a popular song, Jinho mentions that the “members are still trying hard to beat that score.”

And since PENTAGON has so many incredible songs and so much talent, it’s only a matter of time before a new song becomes an immense success that surpasses “Shine.”
